About the Shows:
My performances are live flute, with backing music. I orchestrate all my backing music to enhance the beauty of the flute and fill in the harmonies,
while maintaining the immediacy of live performance.
Outdoor and Street Show: Free(
I sell CD's and accept donations during the event)
I use one 150 watt or two 400 watt powered speakers (depending on venue), equalizer, FX processor and mic the flute.
Good for street style festivals and craft shows where I'm performing on the street, in a park, in a pavillion or any situation where the patrons are wandering about.
Full Show: $299 (People may purchase CD's and DVD's following the performance)
I use two 400 watt powered speakers, mixer, monitor, equalizer, FX processor and mic the flute, so the fidelity is good and even the back row can hear and enjoy the music.
I use a large visuals backdrop that is backlit with a projector and using a laptop, changes with the music
(I need about 12' behind where I am playing for the visuals).
I use my large 12' banner if it's an outdoor, daytime event, because the visuals are hard to see in bright daylight.
Perfect for auditoriums and large outdoor venues.
Benefits:
Reduced cost; as there is not an entire ensemble to pay.
Wider variety of music; I am not restricted to one style, as I can have piano and cello for classical, and a band for jazz.
Small performance area; even though I can have a full on orchestra backing me up, I require less room.
Good in any situation ; low light levels are no problem as I use a backlit screen for my music,
even a breeze doesn't pose a problem..
Special request music; sometimes a song that means a lot to you, but is outside the genre of the performers, whereas I can orchestrate and play just about anything.
About Penny:
I have degrees in Music, Visual Arts, and Education, and am also certified in all four teaching divisions.
I was an Elementary and Secondary School Music teacher in Ontario and B.C.
I also taught grade 10 Media Arts, was the I.T. Specialist at a Toronto School, composed music for the NFB (National Film Board of Canada),
and am a member of the Canadian Society of Composers (SOCAN).

I live in Shelburne, which is about 45 minutes north of Brampton
and perform in
Toronto, the GTA, west to Waterloo, north to Owen Sound,
north-east to Barrie

Set up: takes 1 1/2 hours
Striking: takes 45 minutes
I need uninterupted time at the venue during those times.
